URGENT! Your Help is needed for our AVIVA application.

Please read the following, copy/pasted from email sent out to all members. We need YOUR help to secure funding to continue to deliver and increase badminton in primary schools.

Don’t procrastinate! Follow the link and DO IT NOW! Thank you.

“Hi All,

We as a County Badminton Association applied for a grant under the Aviva competition section relating to Schools and the Community. Its title is “Badminton in Schools initiative and beyond”

Our project is to develop badminton in Primary Schools and into the Community, particularly deprived areas, and to continue the work we have been doing now for two years.  We have been match funding any grants approved and last year spent over £4000 of our own funds.  We have been so successful that now some 25 additional schools in Dorset want to become part of our scheme, and frankly we do not have the funds to satisfy so many.  We have a pool of Level 2 coaches free during the day to go into schools during curriculum time which is great, and the participating schools will pay half the coaching fees. We have applied for £10,000 and including our match funding, and the schools contribution to the coaching fees, the amount will buy us 1000 coaching hours.  This means we can then over the next year satisfy those 25 or so schools waiting to take up badminton during curriculum time.

Now the Aviva competition winners will be judged on the number of votes the project receives and we have until November 18th.  The highest number of votes cast will go forward to the final selection.  WE THEREFORE NEED YOUR URGENT HELP PLEASE.  We seek your organisations support and it would be fantastic if you were able to forward this email and its Aviva links to all your members.  Please also ask your members to use TWITTER and FACEBOOK as well,so we can reach the maximum number of people. Please ask them to get all their friends and contacts to spread the word. ( even to friends of friends of friends).  WE ESTIMATE WE MIGHT NEED AS MANY AS 40,000 votes to be successful.  By clicking on the link below and registering with Aviva, everyone will be able to use their 10 votes for our project. This will take you no more than 2/3 minutes from start to finish.

Our project number is 16-376
and the link is   https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/16-376

Many thanks,

New Club J.P. Morgan Badminton Club entering 2 teams in Mens league

Posted by | Uncategorized | No Comments

A new club/team has been formed by Umer Chisti. The new club will be called J.P. Morgan badminton club, and they are under strict instructions not to steal any of their employees who already play at Flukey Feathers! 🙂
They will be entering two teams in the Mens league (yes we know its very late in the day). Their first team will be in division 4 and their away matches can be held on the dates that clubs had already entered in their diaries for Poole Dolphins 3 who recently pulled out. Hopefully they will also be able to hold their home games on the Friday dates that Poole Dolphins 3 had, but this will depend on their venue/match night……..
Obviously the division 5 matches for their second team will be completely new fixtures.
It makes a pleasant change for a new club to be formed, rather than old established ones disintegrating, so may I take this opportunity to wish them well with it.

Senior county weekend

Senior County results (first weekend)

Dorset 1 won 7-4, 7-4 at the weekend vs Gloucester and Somerset.
Some fantastic performances from the team and a great atmosphere. This puts them 2nd in the table to Gloucester. Looking forward to the next Match on the 12th of December in Bath.

Dorset 2 narrowly lost to Jersey 6-5 and beat Cornwall 7-5. A special well done to the singles players and ladies doubles as the very strong start against both teams contributed greatly towards the overall results. Next match is also on the 12th December against Gloucestershire 2 & Guernsey 1 in Cheltenham.

Dorset 3rds had mixed fortunes at the weekend in Bournemouth, winning 7-4 against Wiltshire 3rds but then losing 8-3 to a strong Isle of Wight 1st team. Whilst there were some player absenses, there were lots of positives to take from the day, and it was great to see some of the younger players playing for the senior team for the first time so well done to them. Dorset 3rds next outing is at Exeter university on the 12th of December.
